| Bio: | Name: Nicanor Perez Soto Date of Birth: June 15th, 1986 Age: 22 Race/Species: Lycan, coyote Hometown: Piedras Negras, Mexico Physical description: Nic is a fairly little guy, standing only at 5'6", but he's stocky and well muscled. His skin is very tanned, partly from his heritage and partly from near constant sun exposure. He has always had a fondness for outdoors, but since being turned now he prefers them to being inside. PB Diego Luna Personality: Nicanor is clever, ambitious, and has a grudge to settle. That all makes for a very dangerous combination. He takes nothing for granted and is genuinely grateful for everything he receives. Despite his lonely lifestyle, he prefers to be amidst a group of people, possibly because it reminds him of the closeness of his family in Mexico. He's never afraid to take a risk or do hard work for something he believes is worthwhile. Background Nicanor is the second oldest of five children, but is the oldest male. His father worked as a coal miner (one of the Peidras Negras'greatest assets) and his mother a stay at home parent, so it was Nic's responsibility to help raise money for the family. He did odd jobs that were allowed to a young man, knowing that one day he would make the dangerous journey across the great fence to America. Some nights he would walk the streets of his town, go to a small hill that gave a clear view of the night sky and the land beyond. Some nights, it seemed the promised land was barely a stone's throw away. He could see it so clearly- the International bridge, the smooth terrain of Texas... the minutemen with their shotguns and dogs. It was risking your life to attempt the cross, but tall tales and sweet promises made the trip worth the risk. On the night of his eighteenth birthday, Nic said goodbye to his family and, with only a backpack of clothing and a pair of tin snips, he set out for America. It was suicide going alone, though thankfully there were often men who were forced to trek on their own, and this could move in a group. Trying to cross without a coyote was almost impossible, but Nic was clever and sharp. With quick thinking, determination and sheer dumb luck, Nic and his three comrades made their way past the fence and into the new world. While it was the same air blowing from Mexico, Nic swore that it smelled fresher than any he'd ever known. His enthusiasm and good spirits were very quickly crushed, however, by the sound of a long, crying howl. It sounded like a coyote (the animal kind, not the fence crosser), but it was possible that it was one of the minutemen's guard dogs. Nic took off at a run, the full moon's light giving him clear vision through the dirt and low brush. Unfortunately, it also gave whatever that was chasing him a clear view of its target. Nic could only take a few steps before he felt the paws hit high on his back, knocking him face first into the dirt. He expected the flashlight in his face, harsh voices barking English at him in deep, drawling redneck accents (the stories that had come back from the border were very colorful). What he did not expect were the teeth sinking into the meat of his shoulder, the claws raking down his back while blood and drool seeped into the wounds. He screamed, as long as he could, until the pain overtook him and the blood loss made him black out. When he came to, he was laying in a bed in a small room, with an elderly woman dressing his wounds. She told him, in a mix of English and Spanish, that she was sorry that her brother had gotten out, and that Nic had picked a terrible night to try and cross the border. She went on to explain about how on the full moon her brother transformed into a horrible creature and tried to hurt people and turn them into something like himself. She was very calm as she spoke of it, which terrified Nic. He wondered if all of America was like this, filled with awful monsters that ate people, and why no one had ever written about this in their letters home. The woman went on to explain that since he'd been bitten, and lived, now Nic would be a were coyote as well. Or, in his own tongue, a "nahual". The word made all color drain from Nic's face, terror seizing him. He knew the legends, the silly scary tales the older men told young children. He hadn't thought that it was real. But he felt different, and after what had happened to him the night before, he just knew it to be true. The woman went on to explain that Nic could stay in her home until he was healed, and then she would call border patrol and have him sent back to Mexico. Nic said nothing in protest, but already his mind was concocting a way to escape. He couldn't go back home, as a monster. He couldn't let his family see him as the man had been last night, couldn't shame his mother with the knowledge he would be going to hell. He couldn't bring this horror back to his home. No, America had done this to him, and America would keep him. By morning he was gone from the woman's house, roaming Texas with nothing to his name, nothing but blood and scratches on his back. Throughout his travels Nic came across people like himself, people who hid beneath the radar and stayed low, kept themselves from being noticed too much. People who gave him shelter and taught him to hunt safely, taught him English and gave him work to do. They explained the way of the world, how supernaturals kept themselves quiet from humans, but that they were everywhere, probably in Mexico too. They were varied and powerful, demons and angels and lycans, elementals and even humans with extraordinary gifts. The more Nic heard, the less he understood. If there were so many like them, and others with great abilities, why were they being treated as second class citizens? Just because they were different, made so by circumstances out of their control, why should they be punished for it? The people in the small Texas town had no interest in stirring up trouble, but Nic did. He was furious for everything that had become of him since setting foot in the country, and he wanted payback. And since no one wanted to help him where he was, he set out on his own. For four years he wandered the country, finding more people like him, stirring up unrest. Many supernaturals agreed with him, and rightfully so. They had done nothing wrong, but had to hide themselves away? Vampires especially faces such challenges, it was completely unbalanced. Humans did not deserve all the luxuries they were bestowed. Nic liked magical schools the best. Young minds itching for a fight, their abilities somewhat unbalanced, the spirit of youth, and most of them were newly turned into their new lives and felt the heat of injustice stinging in their hearts. He was readying the troops, starting organizations, gathering supporters that refused to be looked down upon. The only way for there to be real freedom was for humans to know them, to face the differences head on and accept them. Or get trampled by progress. Having covered the southwest and curving up the east coast, Nic's next stop is Boston. He is eager to see what more liberal minds are willing to do for a cause. Abilities: Shifts to a coyote on the full moon, heals faster than humans Weaknesses: Aversion to silver and holy objects, gets irritable near the full moon. Has a tendency to ramble.
